MADE TO ORDER

Namoudia is a limited edition designed by Mina Abouzahra to celebrate 5 years of OSMB, hand-knotted by the hands of Amazigh women in the Atlas area.

Mina Abouzahra about Namoudia: "To learn all there is to learn about the craft of Moroccan weaving, I became an apprentice for almost a year at a female weaving cooperative. This has been an incredibly valuable time since it showed me the amount of patience, dedication and focus that is truly needed in order to create a single rug. The first carpet I made by myself featured a brightly coloured knot at the end of each day. This revealed the change from day to day as the process progressed. That is, till Fadma, my teacher from the cooperative, decided it took too much time and invited the other weavers from the village to come and help me knot my rug. In response to my protest, Fadma told me "this is the way things work here; nobody can or will do it on their own". From that moment on, the rug became like the other rugs: an important social element of the village community."
